Brunch and Studio Tour for four with Glass Artist Dante Marioni and Writer Peter Mountford
For an unforgettable experience, come around for brunch with two of the hottest movers and shakers in the literary and glass world. You will enjoy brunch hosted by novelist Peter Mountford (and his partner Jessica Mooney, a former Made at Hugo fellow!), and tour Dante Marioni’s glass blowing studio, which is in the basement of the apartment building where both Peter and Dante both live. Additionally, you will take home two gorgeous champagne flutes blown by Dante.
Dante Marioni burst onto the international glass scene at the age of 19 with a signature style described as the “purest of classical forms executed in glass by an American glassblower.”At age 23, Marioni had his first sell-out gallery show in Seattle featuring his Whopper vases, which became his signature, and earned him a prestigious Louis Comfort Tiffany Fellowship. Marioni’s elegant works are displayed in museums around the world, and a brilliant record of his ongoing relationship with and exploration of this material.
Peter Mountford’s first novel A Young Man’s Guide to Late Capitalism won the 2012 Washington State Book Award in Fiction, and his second novel The Dismal Science was a New York Times editor’s choice. Brunch will be served at the antique dining room table and matching chairs, which Peter wrote about in 2015 for the New York Times’ Modern Love column.
